Mission

The mission of Phoenix Learning Center is to create a community of compassionate, innovative, life-long learners who continually strive for excellence. Our program’s aim is to promote an academically rigorous curriculum that values the different interests, learning styles, and abilities of each student.

Curriculum Goals

Our program is designed to teach the California state standards while using differentiated curriculum addressed in the California GATE standards, such as acceleration, novelty, depth and complexity. Through differentiation of the core curriculum, the program creates opportunities for students to become analytic thinkers, creative producers and practical problem solvers. Lessons emphasize critical thinking skills, inquiry, and connections to universal concepts through cooperative learning experiences and class discussions. A variety of research-based instructional strategies and materials are used throughout the grade levels to meet the needs of all students.

Enrollment for 2010-11

JCS Phoenix Learning Center has limited space available for the 2010-11 school year.  Phoenix Learning Center is an elementary school program for grades K - 6, with one classroom per grade level.  If you have a child that you would like to enroll in our program, please submit an enrollment request.  Although our program is near capacity, enrollment requests will be accepted throughout the school year with children placed on a wait list in the order their requests are received.  Please look under Documents, Forms, Etc. for an Enrollment Request Form, and submit it to the office by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Student supply lists are now posted on each teacher's website found by clicking on the appropriate class page from the menu on the left..  For 1st grade, please see Mrs. Landau's list for 2nd grade and for 4th grade, please see Mrs. Blough's 5th grade list.
